Francis Wayne Breitenbach, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, at the age of 76, in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Born on December 9, 1949, in Cortland, New York, Francis lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.
He proudly served in the United States Army for nearly eight years, showcasing his commitment to his country. Francis was a talented systems analyst at Aberdeen Proving Ground, where he applied his sharp mind and problem-solving skills.
An avid sports enthusiast, Francis had a particular fondness for the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles. His passion extended beyond mere fandom; he was a talented softball player who enjoyed both playing and watching. A natural handyman, Francis found joy in fixing things and tackling projects, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need.
He loved playing games with friends and family and his cooking was a cherished part of many family gatherings. His green thumb transformed his garden into a haven. Francis took great pride in his collection of various items, reflecting his deep appreciation for the past and the memories connected to each piece.
Francis is survived by his devoted wife, Jean Breitenbach; son, Francis "Wes" Breitenbach (Jesica); daughter, Jennifer Baldwin and son, Evan Myers and adopted daughter Sana Rani and his precious grandchildren: Drew Breitenbach, Kendall Bowling, Ryan Bowling, Jack Myers, Chayse Beinkampen, Ayan Raza and Seraphina Gutowski. He will be missed by his siblings: sister Barbara Ellwood and Debbie Breitenbach and brothers Bradley and Bruce Breitenbach, along with a multitude of friends and extended family. Francis was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert Breitenbach and Earla Fasnaugh Breitenbach, daughter, Catherine "Cathi" Breitenbach, and sisters Beverly Boyer and Kathy Greene.
Funeral services will be held at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. on October 12, 2026. A public viewing will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to come together to share stories, celebrate a life well-lived, and honor the remarkable man that Francis was.
In this time of mourning, let us remember Francis's warm spirit, his love for those around him, and the legacy he leaves behind. His impact will be felt for generations to come, and he will always hold a special place in our hearts.
