Francis A. "Tinker" Jones
Francis A. "Tinker" Jones of Havre de Grace, passed away on April 17, 2009 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. He was 70.
Mr. Jones was born in Alexandria, VA on April 17, 1939, to the Late Austin H. and Margaret E. (Rink) Jones. He has been a longtime friend to Anita Blackburn of Elkton, MD.
Tinker is the loving father of David R. Jones and his wife Holly of Bel Air, MD, Mary F. Jones and husband Shawn Workman of Aberdeen, MD, Austin F. Jones of Perryville, MD, Dana Kennedy of Edgewood, MD and Brenda L. Goderis of Connersville, Indiana. He was a grandfather of Ashley Jones, Brandy Workman, Christopher Workman, Stephanie Jones, Alexa Jones, Amanda Jackson, Stephanie Kennedy, Brandon Jones, Stephen Lentz and Emily Lentz. He was the brother of Beverly Lennox of Havre de Grace, MD and Joyce Marie Sheldon of Finksburg, MD. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Lorri and James Ludwigsen, Terri Tolliver, Jeffrey Sheldon, and Randall and Christa Sheldon. He is also survived by his great nieces and nephews: Kelsi Ludwigsen, Eric Tolliver, Matt Sheldon and Mark Sheldon.
Tinker Jones had retired after many years the Department of the Army Civil Service. He had worked as an Artillery Repairman for ATC at the Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was a graduate of the class of 1958 Havre de Grace High School. Tinker enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his bike and making several walks to the ball park. He was in the Marching Unit for the Susquehanna Hose Company in the 1950's and in the Havre de Grace Honor Guard.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2009 from 5 to 9 PM at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
A service will also be held at 7 PM at the Funeral Home.
Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Robert T. Clipp of Grace United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, MD.
In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to: Maryland Legends, 101 Surrey Lane, Rising Sun, Maryland 21911.
