George Barry Burns, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on February 8, 2016. He was 80.
Mr. Burns was born in Havre de Grace, MD, to George W. Burns and Hannah Hipple Burns.
He received his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Washington College, in Chestertown, MD, and then he worked as a computer specialist for National Cash Register, and the Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was an avid baseball player and was even voted a "Most Valuable Player" in college. He was also a soccer player when he was younger. He loved watching old movies and was an avid football fan. Mr. Burns donated two homes and property to the City of Havre de Grace in hopes to preserve a piece of Havre De Grace history.
He is survived by several cousins and friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday, February 12, 2016, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM. Pastor Norman Obenshain will officiate. Interment will be held at Angel Hill Cemetery.
