George Edward Reeves
George Edward Reeves, of Darlington, MD, passed away on Monday, December, 8, 2008. He was 85.
He was born in Sparta, North Carolina to the late Everett Van and Margaret Louise Crouse Reeves. He was the husband of the late Anna Lucille Dodsworth Reeves. He was the loving father of Carole R. and Ralph E. Moody of Havre de Grace, MD, George Phillip Reeves and William Van and Barbara A. Reeves of Darlington, MD. He was the grandfather of R. Scott Moody, Jeffery M. Moody, Dayna S. Reeves and Whitney A. Reeves. He was the brother of Holice Dawson and was predeceased by 7 siblings. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a Drivers Educator at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Upon retiring from Aberdeen Proving Ground, he opened a small engine and lawnmower repair shop. He was a member of the American Legion Post 47. He was a Life Member and Honorary Chief at Darlington Volunteer Fire Co., Inc. During his service with the fire company, he held most administrative and all fire-line positions, including 8 years as President and 10 years as Chief.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, December 10, from 6-8 PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, Maryland 21078. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 11:00 AM, at the graveside at DarlingtonCemetery, Shuresville Road, Darlington, MD21034. His niece, Rev. Margaret Reeves will officiate.
