Golden "Donna" Y. Turnbaugh, a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Aunt and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2026, in Aberdeen, Maryland. Born Golden Hoskins on September 9, 1934, in the close-knit town of Hazard, Kentucky, Donna’s life was a beautiful testament to love, dedication, and nurturing care.
Donna’s journey through life was marked by a steadfast commitment to her family and community. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures—sitting on the back porch savoring soft shell crabs, immersing herself in the worlds woven within the pages of her beloved books, and most importantly, taking tender care of those she held dear. Her nurturing spirit was a beacon of warmth and comfort to everyone who knew her.
Professionally, Donna was a pillar at the New Ideal Diner in Aberdeen, Maryland, where she worked with pride and dedication for many years as a waitress. Her hard work and welcoming smile made the diner a beloved gathering place, reflecting her kind nature and tireless work ethic. She also work as a manager in local restaurants. Beyond her career, Donna was a member of Carsins Run Baptist Church, where her faith and compassion further enriched the lives of her friends and parishioners.
Donna was the proud mother of Charlene Jones and her late husband Douglas, Herbert E. Turnbaugh, Jr., and his wife Tina, Martha Turnbaugh and her husband Chris Deal, and Francis D. "Donald" Turnbaugh and his wife Roseonna. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who were the light of her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbert Turnbaugh, a partner in life and love, her parents, Farmer Hoskins and Emma Winifred (Baker) Hoskins, as well as her siblings: Lucille Singleton, Mary Helen Wright, Cleda Mae Jones, Farmer Hoskins, Jr., Edward Hoskins, Jr., and Winifred McNealy.
A visitation to honor Donna’s beautiful life will be held at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., located at 927 Pulaski Hwy, Havre De Grace, Maryland, 21078, on April 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The funeral service will follow on the same day at noon, allowing family, friends, and the community to gather and remember her remarkable warmth, kindness, and the deep legacy of love she leaves behind. After the service, the family invites you to join them in the banquet hall to remember her amazing grace, with bountiful blessing of good eats!
Donna's life was one defined by compassionate service to others, enduring love for her family, and an unwavering commitment to her faith and community. She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her gentle and loving spirit.
