Grace Hopkins Schaffer

Grace Hopkins Schaffer, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2008 at CitizensCareCenter in Havre de Grace, Maryland. She was 76.

She was born in Tazewell, Virginia to the Late Charles and Aflon Rutherford. She was the devoted wife of 53 years to Gerald Hudson Schaffer of Havre de Grace, Maryland.

Mrs. Schaffer was the loving mother to Kimberly Donovan and her husband Gordy of Havre de Grace, Maryland. She was the grandmother to Jennifer Gerdom and her husband Kevin of Havre de Grace, Maryland and Jocelyn Donovan of Havre de Grace, Maryland and the late Jillian Donovan. She was the loving great grandmother to Cassidy and Jaxon Gerdom of Havre de Grace, Maryland and Jalen Donovan-Vasquez of Havre de Grace, Maryland. Mrs. Schaffer was the loving sister of Carl Rutherford of Bluefield, Virginia and Harriet Poulos of Culpepper, Virginia and the late Leonard Rutherford, William Rutherford, Virginia Asbury and Ethel McCauley.

Mrs. Schaffer had worked as a telephone operator and retired from the VA Perry Point Canteen as a sales clerk. She loved quilting, cooking and taking walks along the promenade in Havre de Grace. She was a member of the Young at Heart Club and the First Christian Church in Havre de Grace.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2008 from 10 AM to 12 PM at the First Christian Church, 800 Giles Street, Havre de Grace, Maryland 21078, where a service will be held at 12 PM.

Officiating will be Pastor Ronald L. Tabor.

Interment will be held at HarfordMemorialGardens, Aberdeen, Maryland.
