Obituary

It is with heartfelt gratitude and joyous remembrance that we celebrate the life of Gwendelyn Ann Liebig, knowing that she is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior. Gwendelyn, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on March 4, 1949, in Havre de Grace, Maryland to the late Ellwood D. and Pearl M. (Stierle) Jones. Gwendelyn was the devoted wife of the late Charles R. Liebig.

Gwendelyn was a dedicated travel clerk at Aberdeen Proving Ground, where she spent many fulfilling years before her retirement. The pride she held in her work was only matched by her fervent love for her family and her strong ties to her community. A proud daughter of a United States Marine Veteran who courageously served during World War II, Gwendelyn embraced her faith as a devoted Christian, finding joy in her love for Jesus and her community. She was an active member of the Church of Reconciliation in Bel Air, Maryland, where she contributed her time and talents to the clothing ministry. Gwendelyn lovingly knitted over one hundred hats for newborns and many blankets to support military veterans, demonstrating her unwavering compassion for those who served.

Gwendelyn found fulfillment in the simple joys of life, cherishing her family above all else. She is survived by her loving sons, Kevin Liebig and Edward Futty, daughters-in-law Patricia Futty and Andrea Liebig, and her beloved grandsons, Chris Liebig and Joshua Liebig. Her family was her pride and joy, and she treasured every moment spent in their company. Each of them will forever hold dear the precious memories created with her, marked by laughter, warmth, and an abundance of love.

A talented drummer, Gwendelyn, displayed her musical skills in the Edgewood High School Marching Band, demonstrating her vibrant and spirited personality. In her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, often crafting beautiful pieces that brought warmth to those around her. She was also a familiar face at the community center in Bel Air, where she fostered friendships and shared laughter with others.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:15 A.M. at the Church of Reconciliation, 2300 Grafton Shop Road, Forest Hill, Maryland, with funeral services to be held at 10:15 A.M. Immediately following the services, Gwendelyn will be laid to rest at Bel Air Memorial Gardens, 809 Rock Spring Road, Bel Air, Maryland.
