It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Howard Lester Ware Jr., who left us peacefully at the age of 91 on December 3, 2025. Born on November 5, 1934, in Charles Town, West Virginia, Howard lived a life full of dedication, warmth, and love. He spent his final year in Havre de Grace, Maryland, surrounded by family and friends.A proud Korean War veteran, Howard served in the U.S. Army as Military Police from 1954 to 1956. He then served as an AP in the Air Force Reserves an additional 6 years. His time in service instilled in him a sense of duty and honor that he carried throughout his life. Howard was a respected member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in Seaford, Delaware, where he formed lasting bonds with fellow veterans.In his professional life, Howard made his mark in the retail industry, working diligently to support his family. He sought out creative outlets in his personal time, enjoying tinkering, woodworking, and building projects. A lover of puzzles, he also found great joy in playing FreeCell, always challenging himself to beat every game and level.Howard leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Hilda Ware; his brother, William Ware; his sons, Keith Ware and Howard Ware; his daughters, Sharon Moxey and Denise Wilson; his son, Bill Wilson; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Lester Ware and Emma Crumb Ware; his son, James War; his sisters, Jean Light, Dorothy Ware, and Ann Welty; as well as his grandson, Brian Anthony Wilson. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.Funeral services will be held to celebrate Howard's life and the legacy he leaves behind on a later date at Delaware Veterans Cemetery. Family and friends will gather to honor him at a ceremony that reflects his spirit and the impact he had on all our lives. In this time of sorrow, we find comfort in remembering Howard's kindness, his steadfast love for his family, and the joy he brought to those he encountered. May he rest in peace.
