Obituary
Irene Virginia Goddin Rudolph, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on November 11, 2013. She was 85.
Mrs. Rudolph was born in Portsmouth, VA, to Harry Lee Goddin, Sr. and Fannie May Goddin. She was the devoted wife of 64 years of James E. Rudolph, Sr., loving mother of Patricia R. Allingham of Havre de Grace, MD, Cynthia R. Hartsfield and her husband Roger, of Clemmons, NC, James E. Rudolph, Jr., and his wife Lynda of Middletown, DE, Peggy R. Downs, and her husband Peter of Mineral, VA, and Dr. W. Garry Rudolph and his wife Cathy of Charlotte, NC. She was the adored grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Rudolph was predeceased by her siblings, Harry Lee Goddin, Jr., Sherman Goddin, Shelton Goddin, and Helen Goddin Reese, and one grandchild.
Mrs. Rudolph graduated from King's Daughters Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 and spent nearly 60 years as a practicing Registered Nurse. She left a lasting imprint on the health of residents of Havre de Grace, Harford County and all of northeast Maryland after moving to Havre de Grace in 1956. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the Newborn Nursery at Harford Memorial Hospital for several years, and finished her career as the office nurse for Dr. Frederick Hatem in Havre de Grace for nearly 40 years. Her cheerful demeanor, love and caring for her patients will never be forgotten. As a member of the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace, Irene and her husband helped to perpetuate the legacy of the church throughout her lifetime. She enjoyed doing cross-stitch and helped her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren understand the meaning of family.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013, from 3-6 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 17, at 2:00 PM at the Presbyterian Church of Havre de Grace, 551 Franklin Street, Havre de Grace, MD, 21078. Rev. Susie Atkinson will officiate.
