Obituary

Beloved by his family and respected by all who knew him, James Daniel McClure of Havre de Grace, Maryland, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024, at the age of 97. He was the devoted husband of the late Helen McClure. Born in Fulton, Kentucky, on June 30, 1927, to Moses and Mae (Ferguson) McClure, James led a life filled with dedication, love, and service.

Throughout his life, James embodied dedication and service, having proudly served in the United States Navy and dedicating his civilian career to civil service as a Personnel Staffing Specialist at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was a man of many talents, known for his green thumb and passion for gardening, nurturing a bountiful array of vegetables with care and hard work. In his local community, James was known as the friendly neighborhood painter, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. His generous spirit and kind heart touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

James, a devoted father to Linda Wendler (Donald), Michael McClure (April), Robert McClure (Terri), David McClure (Kay) and Daniel McClure (Deborah), will forever be remembered for his love, wisdom, and unwavering support. He was a proud grandfather to Ryan Wendler (Jeanine), Matthew McClure (Teri), Jordan Johnson (Brian), Shannon Weinheimer (Donnie), Stephanie White (Brandon), Braden, Riley, Liam, Keegan, Carson McClure, and great-grandchildren Weston and Brielle Wendler, Finn and Caleb Weinheimer, Emery and Foster White. His legacy of kindness, patience, and compassion lives on through each of them.

His life will be celebrated and honored during the upcoming funeral services. A viewing will take place at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., on October 19, 2024, at 10:00 am. A Funeral Service will be held at the same location at 11:00 am, after which James will be laid to rest at Harford Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Father Franz Bellezza of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family may make contributions in his memory to Level Volunteer Fire Company, 3633 Level Village Road, Havre de Grace, MD 21078.
