Obituary

James Paul Romeo, 74, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away at home June 25, 2016 to the loving arms of his Redeemer, Jesus Christ.
Born in Baltimore, MD on August 28, 1941, Jim was the son of the late Peter and Thelma Womer Romeo. Jim served in the U.S. Air Force from 1960-64 and the Maryland National Air Guard for three years. He retired from a career teaching at the El Paso (TX) Job Corps Center. Jim was active in Scouting and served as a Scoutmaster in Westminster, MD. He loved camping and canoeing and he and his wife enjoyed their visits to numerous National Parks. Jim also enjoyed music, especially folk and doo-wop. He played the guitar and sang John Denver songs. Another hobby was car restoration, but he will be most remembered for his talent as a potter, and teaching pottery at the Aberdeen Senior Center.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Lucille Romeo of Havre de Grace; 2 sons, Richard J. Romeo and his wife Loel of Sykesville, MD, and Christopher J. Romeo and his wife Yvette of York, PA; 5 grandchildren, Stephen, Lindsey and John Romeo and Jeremy and Matthew Garns; and 4 great grandchildren, Joseph, Ryan, Olivia and Lillian Garns.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD 21078 on Tuesday June 28, 2016 from 6 – 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Dale Picarella at St. Patrick Church, 615 Congress Ave. in Havre de Grace on Wednesday June 29 at 11:00 am Burial will be in Baltimore National Cemetery.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the UMBF (University of Maryland, Baltimore Foundation) in support of the heart failure and transplant program.
