**Obituary for James W. Mowl, Sr.**
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James "Jimmy" W. Mowl, Sr., who left us peacefully on June 21, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on September 26, 1957, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Eleanore J. (Pontius) Scott. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
James, affectionately known as "Jimmy," spent his working years as a machinist for Prince Specialty Chemicals, where he dedicated himself to his craft and earned the respect of his colleagues. Jimmy was known for his unwavering enthusiasm for NASCAR, proudly supporting his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. He enjoyed spending his free time engaged in his passions, whether it was bowling, golfing, or indulging in his love for science fiction television shows.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of almost 40 years, Donna M. Mowl, and their children: son James "Jay" Mowl, Jr. (Faith); son Dale J. Mowl (Allison); son Michael Mowl; and daughter Dana Estep. He is survived by his grandchildren—Mason, Elijah, Kolyn, Sierra, and Stasha—who will carry his spirit with them always. He also held a special bond with Travis Headley, whom he regarded as a son.
In addition to his immediate family, Jimmy is survived by his siblings, Robin Pointer and her husband Thomas, and Donna Pontius. He was a beloved brother-in-law to Terri and Bob Poole, and cherished as an uncle by many nieces and nephews.
The memory of James "Jimmy" W. Mowl, Sr. will live on in the hearts of all who knew him—his laughter, kindness, and passion for life remain a guiding light to his family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Jimmy will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 927 Pulaski Highway, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate his life, share stories, and honor his memory.
