James "Jim" Herbert Swann passed away peacefully at Embrace Hospice House, Myrtle Beach, SC at the age of 87 on Sunday, November 10, 2024. Jim was born on February 12, 1937, in Cadiz, OH to the late William Swann and the late Hazel Swann (Talbert). When he was a youngster, his family relocated to Aberdeen, MD. He relocated to Conway, SC with his daughter Lawrin Walker (Swann) and son-in-law Scott Walker in August 2018.

Jim excelled in sports at Aberdeen High School. He loved the game of golf and spent many weekends out on the course at Swann Creek Country Club, going on golf trips and playing in Elks golf outings. Jim also loved spending time with his wife, the late JoAnn Swann (Richardson) and his friends at the Havre de Grace Elks Lodge. Over the years he wore many hats at the Elks Lodge including Lodge Exalted Ruler. He was very involved in Lodge activities and volunteered his time at many Lodge events.

Jim worked for many years at the J.M. Huber Corporation in Havre de Grace, MD. But he got the bug to be his own boss and branched out on his own. For over 40 years he was a jack of all trades, selling Home, Auto and Life Insurance. He also performed bookkeeping and accounting services for several local businesses. He even dabbled in Real Estate as Swann Realty. His main business passion was as an Income Tax preparer which kept him busy for many years from January to April. He officially retired in 2015.

Jim is survived by his daughter Lawrin Walker (Swann), brother Richard Swann and sister Betty Day (Swann). Jim was preceded in death by his daughters Donna Swann, Debra Swann, and Diana Swann, brothers Thomas Swann, Arthur Swann, Michael Swann, and his sister Patricia Keen (Swann).
No official services are planned at this time. His daughter Lawrin will be planning a Celebration of Life Gathering to be held at the Havre de Grace Elks Lodge sometime in the early Spring. At which time his ashes will be laid to rest at Angel Hill Cemetery with his wife and daughters.
