Obituary
Janice Marie Retrossa, a beloved member of the Havre de Grace community, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2024, in Havre de Grace, MD. Born in Christiana, PA, on December 8, 1932, and a proud graduate of Solanco High School. Janice was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, great aunt and sister.
Janice married Dominic Retrossa on December 22, 1950. The two were each other's life companions. They were blessed with two sons Gregory and Dominic, Jr. She devoted her life to her family and friends. Her warm smile and kind demeanor touched the hearts of many, leaving a lasting impression on all she met. She was an avid reader and an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Elks Lodge and American Legion. Other hobbies included quilting, knitting, and playing cards with the girls. She worked as a bank teller for Maryland National Bank and also worked at Montgomery Wards.
Janice is survived by her son Dominic Jr (Lorrinda), daughter in law Vivian, granddaughters Michele Smith (Phillip), Wendy Jackson (Jammie), great-grandchildren Austin Smith (Erica), Ashlee Smith (Rob), Kaytlin Robinson (Noah), Lacie Jackson (Nate), great-great- grandchild Barrett Smith, aunt Toots Beltz, brother-in-law Raymond Hart, and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dominic, son Gregory, father Paul Rice, mother, Kathryn Mendenhall Rice, siblings, Joyce Pyle, Jean Hart, and Dale Rice.
The community is invited to join in honoring and bidding farewell to Janice Retrossa, a woman who will be fondly remembered for her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 927 Pulaski Highway, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Viewing will be from 11am to 1pm. Funeral Services to begin at 1 pm on October 26, 2024. Internment Mt. Erin Cemetery. May she rest in peace.
