Obituary

Joan Louise Petrie joined her beloved granddaughter, first husband, parents, sister, and brother in heaven on June 26, 2026. Joan passed away peacefully at 9:42 p.m. in Baltimore, Maryland, surrounded by her loving family.


Joan was born on April 30, 1938, in Norristown, Pennsylvania to Mary Kadilak and Louis
Gerlock. Joan was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother who found her greatest joy in her family. She was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, where her faith provided her with strength, comfort, and guidance throughout her life. Joan's warmth, generosity, gentle spirit, and steadfast devotion to those she loved touched countless lives and will be remembered always.


Joan was preceded in death by her first husband, William; her granddaughter, Lauren; her parents, Mary and Louis; her sister, Dorothy; and her brother, John.


She is survived by her husband, James; her children, Robbin, Barry, and William; her brother, Kenneth; her grandchildren, Alexa, Brooke, Bryan, and Chloe; along with many extended family members and dear friends whose lives she brightened.


Friends and family are invited to a viewing at
Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 927 Pulaski Hwy., Havre de Grace, MD 21078 on Thursday July 9 from 11 am - 1:00 pm and a memorial service celebrating Joan's life at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at Mount Erin Cemetery.


Joan's compassion, and enduring love for her family and friends will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, grace, and selflessness will continue to live on in those she leaves behind.
