It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John David Gross, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who departed from this world on February 24, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on October 6, 1961, in Havre de Grace, Maryland, John lived a life full of love, laughter, and community involvement.
John was a dedicated store owner of Save On Sneaks, where his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for sporting goods made a lasting impact on the local community. He was a proud member of the Elk's Lodge, Knights of Columbus, St. Vincent de Paul, and the Son's of the American Legion. His unwavering commitment to service extended beyond his business; he volunteered as an Athletic Director and Coach for Catholic Youth Ministries, imparting his love for sports-especially soccer (The Wizards), and his cherished Baltimore Ravens and Orioles-to the next generation.
John reveled in the simple joys of life, from surf fishing and crabbing to boating and camping. He nurtured his family's love for the outdoors and instilled in them the importance of enjoying all that life has to offer. His love for Havre de Grace ran deep, and he cherished every moment spent there, embracing all that his hometown had to give.
In addition to his entrepreneurial endeavors, John pursued a passion for music and broadcasting. He studied at Maryland Broadcasting Institute to become a disc jockey and radio host, where he shared his voice and love for music with a wider audience.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Theresa; his daughters, Chrissy Young (Tom), Catie Harmon (Robbie), and Courtney Gross; grandchildren, Kolton, Luka, and Gavin, and his brother, Thomas Gross. His legacy will endure through their memories and the values he instilled in them.
A memorial service will be held on March 4, 2025, at 1:00 PM, preceded by a public visitation at 12:00 PM. Family and friends are encouraged to join in celebrating John's remarkable life and the countless ways he touched the hearts of those around him. For those who cannot attend the services, they will be Live-Streamed via Facebook@ZellmanFuneralHome,P.A.
