John Samuel Schorah, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2013. He was 64.
John was married to his best friend and love of his life, Karen Schorah, for nearly 39 years. Together they enjoyed surrounding themselves with friends, family, and the people that were important to John. You would often find John with those he loved at his home; entertaining and cooking poolside while listening to his extensive music collection. When not spending time with family, he also loved just spending time just he and Karen - at home, out together, or of course at one of his favorite places which was the beach.
Mr. Schorah was born in Havre de Grace, MD to the late Thomas and Audrey Roberts Schorah. He was the brother of Tommy Schorah of Texas, Mark Schorah of Havre de Grace, MD, Dorothy Atkinson of Delta, PA, the late Jimmy Schorah, Marilyn Park, and Nancy Wesolowski.
"Uncle John," as he was known by many members of his family, was always there for all of his nieces and nephews. Like a second father to all of them, Uncle John occupied a unique place in their hearts. His ability to repair anything and his subtle lessons, combined with his quick wit and sense of humor, made him a person they always wanted around.
Mr. Schorah was a carpenter for most of his life, and was defined by his meticulous work and attention to detail. Most recently he was an exhibit specialist on Aberdeen Proving Ground.
John was a very patriotic man who loved being an American. He had strong convictions and beliefs about American politics, and enjoyed debating or discussing those ideas with anyone. The family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project in John's name. Donations may also be made to the American Cancer Society.
A visitation will be held on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 11:00 Am until 1:00 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM.
