John Edward Simpers, Sr., of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on January 21, 2018. He was 73.
Mr. Simpers was born in Havre de Grace, MD, to Elmer and Ethel Warner Simpers. He was the loving husband of 50 years, to Florence Simpers, devoted father of Lisa Michele Simpers of Havre de Grace, MD, and the late John Edward Simpers, Jr. He was the dear brother of James Simpers and his wife Nancy of Havre de Grace, MD.
Mr. Simpers served in the Army National Guard from 1963-1972. He worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground as and Artillery Tester and was an Umpire for 46 years. He was an avid fisherman, crabber and hunter. Mr. Simpers shared many great times on the Susquehanna River, the Chesapeake Bay and it's many tributaries teaching friends and local youth the ways of the water. He loved baseball and being around the kids at Havre de Grace Little League. He was also and avid reader, a Fox News fan, and a true patriot who always supported his country and the military.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018, from 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD, A Memorial service will begin at 8 PM.
