It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Joshua Adam Cobo, who left this world far too soon on April 8, 2025, at the age of 30. Born on November 3, 1994, in Baltimore, MD, Josh was a beloved son, brother, nephew, uncle, and friend whose warmth, kindness, and generous spirit touched everyone he met.
Josh grew up surrounded by a close and loving family, sharing laughter and countless cherished moments with his parents, Stephen and Susan Cobo; his brother, Jonathan Cobo (Miranda); his sister, Carly Schlaybach (Wyatt); and his adored nephew, Bear Schlaybach. He was excitedly awaiting the arrival of his soon-to-be niece, Rosie Cobo.
Josh is also survived by his devoted aunts and uncles: Jill Ruff, Melissa Blessing, Valerie Ryan (John), Darla Hines, Melissa Wilson (Chuck), Pamela Cobo, Hollie Sifford (Keith), and Monica Corwin, along with many cousins who loved him dearly. He shared a special bond with his godfather, Father Kevin Farmer, with whom he spent many meaningful hours. Josh was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joan and John Hines, and paternal grandparents, Richard and Jacqueline Cobo.
A proud graduate of Coastal Carolina University, Josh earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics in 2018. He was a dedicated member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity, embodying its values of friendship, leadership, and service throughout his life.
Josh lived life fully, finding happiness in simple joys and grand adventures alike - from family holidays and vacations to golfing, fishing, and gaming with friends. He had a deep appreciation for exotic cars, a passion for life's luxuries, and a love for exploring new places and experiences. Above all, Josh cherished his family and the time spent with them.
Josh's legacy is one of strength and gratitude. Born healthy but diagnosed shortly after birth with viral meningitis, encephalitis, hepatitis, and myocarditis, he was given only a 1-2% chance to survive - and yet, he did. He spent the first 18 years of his life living with Congestive Heart Failure until receiving the ultimate gift: a heart transplant on March 10, 2013. Josh was deeply grateful for the gift of life and carried that gratitude into every day.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., located at 927 Pulaski Highway, Havre de Grace, MD. A Mass celebrating Josh's life will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Catholic Church, 141 North Hickory Avenue, Bel Air, MD 21014, officiated by Father Kevin Farmer. All who knew and loved Josh are welcome to attend and honor his life.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that donations be made to support Callum Davis Pompilio, the newborn son of a close family friend who is currently facing heart complications and is on the heart transplant list. Although Josh and Callum never had the chance to meet, Callum's strength and progress touched Josh deeply, and we know he would have wanted to support him in any way he could - to help give the same gift of life that he himself was blessed to receive.
Donations can be made via check to the Pompilio Family at 1855 Edgewood Road, Towson, Maryland 21286, or via Venmo @ebpompilio
