Joyce Whitley Bennington
Joyce Whitley Bennington, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on December 13, 2012. She was 81.
Mrs. Bennington was born in Charlotte, NC, to Robert Whitley, Jr., and Beatrice Skinner Whitley. She was predeceased by her husband, Lee Page Bennington. She was the loving mother of Janet Grippi and her husband Peter, of Abingdon, MD, and Cindy Bennington of Deland, FL. She was the adored grandmother of Erin Grippi of Abingdon, MD, and Laurel Mathias and Ethan Mathias, both of Deland, FL. Mrs. Bennington was the dear sister of Phyllis Burns of Clover, SC, and the late Robert Whitley, III.
Mrs. Bennington was a teacher at Havre de Grace Elementary School and Meadowvale Elementary School for over 35 years. She enjoyed gardening and traveling, especially visiting England. Her favorite pastime was being with her grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 16, from 2-4 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be private.
