Kathleen Elizabeth
Walter
June 4, 1944 – April 28, 2026
Kathleen "Kathy" E. Walter, born June 4, 1944, in New York, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at the University of Maryland at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. Kathy was hardworking, genuinely kind, and fiercely loved her family.
Kathy is survived by her devoted husband, Larry, her partner in life for 63 years. Together, they weathered life’s storms and sunshine. They built a family full of warmth and laughter, Kathy’s greatest pride. Her sons—Larry Jr., Eddie (and wife Erin)—carried forward the values she instilled: love, dedication, and kindness. Her family tree is full of love and support: grandchildren Megan, Cassie, Aidan, Kylie, Lauren, Abby, and great-grandchildren Tyler, Ronan, Kira, and Chase. Each of them carries her spirit forward. Her siblings—Pat, Terri, Ruth, and David—remain part of the close-knit circle that meant so much to Kathy. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Elida (White) Lynch, and her brother Bud.
Kathy deeply loved their little farm. You’d find her happily wielding her Weed Eater or tending the lawn with care. She managed family farm operations with unmatched passion, finding joy in the daily rhythms of farm life and real satisfaction in tending the land she cherished. Her care for the Weed Eater and the lawn was telling—she found happiness in simple jobs done well. For years, Kathy was a swim coach and instructor at the YMCA, sharing her love of swimming, helping others find joy and confidence in the water. Her enthusiasm and kindness touched many beyond her family. Kathy also loved hearty cooking and eating, believing nothing brought people together like a shared meal. Family was the center of her universe; she took pride in creating a warm, loving home. Hardworking to the core, her kindness made everyone feel like family.
Kathy’s proudest accomplishment was her family. She poured love and energy into each of them, ensuring strong roots and unbreakable bonds. Her life will be remembered for her love, work ethic, and devotion to family. She showed what it means to care deeply, work hard, and love unconditionally. Kathy leaves a legacy not just of names and dates, but of warmth, strength, and endless love that will inspire her family and friends for generations.
A celebration of life will be announced in the upcoming weeks.
Rest easy, Kathy—you worked hard, loved hard, and left beautiful memories.
