Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Louise "Scottie" Boyer Lay, who departed this life on November 25, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on August 29, 1952, in Havre de Grace, Maryland, Louise dedicated her life to her family, her community, and the many pursuits that brought her joy.

Louise was a loving wife to her husband, Steven Lay, and a cherished sister to William Boyer and Jan Hoffman. Her warm spirit and kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her. Louise was preceded in death by her father, William Boyer, her mother, Nancy Springer Boyer ,and her brother William Boyer.
As an accomplished office manager, Louise was known for her dedication and professionalism in the secretarial industry, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and the workplaces she served.

An avid Mahjong player, Louise found great happiness in her time with the Mahjong Club. Her passion for literature led her to create a lively book club, where she enjoyed sharing insights and discussing her latest reads. Louise was also a proud member of the Havre de Grace Green Team, embodying her love for the environment and community service. She devoted countless hours volunteering at the Opera House and the Star Center in Havre de Grace, where her contributions were met with gratitude from all who benefited from her selfless acts.

Louise cherished her time spent with friends, enjoying outings and day trips that allowed her to explore the world around her. Her laughter and warmth filled every gathering, creating lasting memories for those fortunate enough to share in her company.

In remembrance of Louise" Scottie" Lay, there will be a public viewing at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., on December 2, 2025, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on December 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM, at the funeral home. Louise will be laid to rest at St. George's Episcopal Cemetery, Perryman, MD.

As we celebrate her life, we invite all who knew and loved Louise to join us in honoring her memory and reflecting on the joy she brought to our lives. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
