Obituary

Lynn Kelly Stadterman, of Aberdeen, MD, passed away on September 15, 2022, after a harrowing battle with cancer. Her fight was valiant, and she can now lay down her arms. She was 69.

Lynn was born in Dothan, Alabama, to James Odom, Sr., and the late Elender Cox Odom. She was the devoted wife of 21 years to Dr. Thomas Stadterman, the love of her life. She was the loving and inspirational mother of Wendy Joy McDermott (Matthew) of Baltimore, MD, and the late Kelly Marlene Anderson, who Lynn missed desperately with all her heart. She was the grandmother of Kassandra Witt, Melanie Findeisen, Michael Findeisen, and Ferris McDermott, who brought her incredible delight. Lynn was the dedicated sister of Lilly Marlene Bosak (James), and James Odom, Jr.

Lynn was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and of the American Legion Post 47 Ladies Auxiliary. She loved traveling, listening to music, and playing piano—playing for over 10 years at her church. Lynn also enjoyed hosting parties, being with her family and friends, and attending events in Havre de Grace. She was a brilliant writer, editor, and motivational speaker. Having put her own education on hold to raise a family, Lynn later went on to graduate from Harford Community College in 2007 with an Associate of Arts. In 2009, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Arts in English.

Lynn was known by many as the young entrepreneur behind the 'Little Black Book', a singles organization in the 1980s and 1990s. She understood the need for those who were divorced, widowed or single to find love. Countless couples in the region met, married, and grew a family because of her. Lynn was all things to all people: the shoulder to cry on, the one who could swoop in to save the day. While she carried much on her own body and soul, her instinct was to extend a hand to lighten the load for others. Despite her pain, her smile warmed the room and her laugh was magic. Her mission was for those around her to feel loved and special. She forged her own path in life and did so with grace and verve.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 12:00 PM. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens.
