Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret Alayne (Midge) Scibek, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on August 31, 2025, at the age of 81. Margaret was born on April 17, 1944, at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC, and made her home most recently in Port Deposit, Maryland.

Margaret devoted many years of her life to civil service as a Math Statistician at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, where her dedication and commitment were evident in all her work. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Maryland, a testament to her love for learning and her unwavering work ethic. She taught high school math in both Baltimore and Harford Counties, and worked as both a substitute teacher and tutor during the family's time in North Carolina. While living in North Carolina she started three Girl Scout troops, a 4-H club and served as their leader.

A cherished member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Margaret's faith guided her throughout her life. She loved family trips to the beach, where she could relax on the porch and watch the ocean or read a favorite book. She found joy in reading, indulging in her love for literature, and was known to relish her time spent bowling and collecting stamps. Of all her passions, perhaps none brought her more happiness than attending Ironbirds baseball games with her family, where laughter and love were always in abundance.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband, James Scibek; her devoted daughter, Jennifer Anne Scibek; her caring sister, Karen Mitchell; and her brother, Richard Dare. Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Frank Dare, mother, Dorothy Dare, and brother, Robert Dare. Each of them will forever carry her memory in their hearts, and her spirit will live on through the countless lives she touched.

Funeral services for Margaret will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on September 13, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Prior to the service, a public visitation will take place at the church starting at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are encouraged to gather and celebrate the remarkable life of a woman who brought so much love and light into the world.

In this time of grief, let us remember Margaret for her warmth, her kindness, and the joy she inspired in those around her. She will be deeply missed but her legacy will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know her.
