Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Sue Murray, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who entered eternal rest on September 8, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on August 17, 1936, in Havre De Grace, Maryland, Marilyn was a lifelong resident of warmth, kindness, and resilience. She spent her final years in Selbyville, Delaware, where she continued to envelop those around her with her gentle spirit.

Marilyn received an Associate's Degree and dedicated her career as a Supply Manager for the Aberdeen Proving Ground and the Maryland National Guard base in Havre de Grace, MD, where her attention to detail and work ethic earned her the respect of colleagues and friends alike. Beloved by her family, she is survived by her husband of 44 years, Retired U.S. Army Colonel Louis Murray, Jr.; her sons, Anthony Francis Vincenti (Cathy), Marc Gardner Vincenti (Ming), Louis John Murray (Mary), Matthew Michael Murray, and Marcus John Murray (Kim); her cherished grandchildren, Justin Vincenti (Amanda), Nicholas Vincenti (Natalie), and Katelyn Murray; as well as her great-grandchildren, Jade Vincenti (Andrew) and Lila Vincenti (Miles) and her many nieces and nephews; Marilyn was preceded in death by: her parents, Gardner Van Evera and Suzanne Howlett Van Evera, and sisters, Lorraine Sills, Patricia McCullough, and Carol Garland.

Marilyn's life was marked by a deep sense of community and service. As a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, she extended her compassion to those around her. She was also a vibrant part of Havre de Grace's history, having been crowned Homecoming Queen in 1955 and delighting in her time as a member of the High Steppers. Her unwavering faith was rooted in her attendance at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, where she connected with others through love and devotion.

An avid genealogist and game lover, Marilyn found joy in uncovering the roots of her family and gathering around the table with loved ones for friendly competition. She reveled in traveling alongside her husband, creating memories that spanned across the United States, including adventures to Hawaii and Alaska, as well as cultural explorations through Europe, Germany, and Italy.

Marilyn's family will gather to honor her remarkable life and legacy on September 12, 2026, during a funeral service at 10:00 AM at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church. Prior to this, a public viewing will take place at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., on September 11, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

As we celebrate her life, we remember Marilyn Sue Murray for her boundless love, generosity, and an unwavering spirit that will forever resonate within the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy will live on through her family and the countless lives she influenced with her kindness.
