It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marsha Kaye Perkins, a dedicated mother, beloved grandmother, cherished sister, and a devoted friend to many. Marsha was born on September 11, 1947, in Owensboro, Kentucky. Marsha was a military wife and after living in Kentucky, Germany (Erlangen), Colorado, Arizona, Germany (Vilseck), and finally landing in Maryland, spent her later years in Harford County and Cecil County, while living in North East, Maryland. She departed this world peacefully, with family by her side, at the age of 78 due to natural causes on June 7, 2026.
Marsha's life was a testament to her boundless spirit of generosity and community. As a para-educator at Havre de Grace Elementary School, she nurtured the minds of countless children, inspiring them to learn and grow. Her passion for education started early, guiding young students in her mother's private kindergarten before eventually finding her calling in public education. Education evolved into the 'family business' as Marsha was a second generation educator and the tradition continues with her daughter (an HCPS teacher of thirty years) and granddaughter (a PGCPS teacher of three years).
An ardent volunteer, Marsha dedicated her time to both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts during her children's formative years. Her creative talents shone brightly through her love of arts and crafts, along with her impressive crochet and sewing skills. As a member of the Young at Heart Club, she shared her craft-making expertise, bringing joy and creativity to her fellow club members.
Marsha was also deeply involved in her community while living in Germany, where she worked tirelessly in Booster Clubs, helping to procure new uniforms for sports teams and hand-making cheerleading outfits with love and care. Her heart was truly in everything she did.
A passionate member of the APG Post Chapel, Marsha led Sunday School classes, eventually becoming the director of religious education. She shared her beautiful voice as part of both the APG Chapel choir and the North East Choir. Her love for music was matched only by her enthusiasm for travel, as she cherished exploring different cultures and forging connections wherever she went.
Marsha leaves behind her loving daughter, K-Nell Jones; her devoted son, Darin Scott Perkins; her adoring grandchildren, Felicia Renee Waldron(Samuel Robert Waldron) and Peyton Christopher Jones; and her cherished brother, Larry Fulkerson (Betty). Her legacy of kindness, creativity, and service will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Marsha was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Nelson Terry Perkins, and her parents Marshall Fulkerson and Juanita BaShaw Fulkerson.
A funeral service to honor Marsha's remarkable life will be held on June 12, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. There will be a public viewing prior to the service, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location. Friends and family are invited to join in celebrating Marsha's life and the profound impact she made on our lives.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local educational charity in Marsha's name, a fitting tribute to her lifelong dedication to nurturing and uplifting others. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her generosity, creativity, and unwavering spirit.
