Mary R. Cavey of Havre de Grace, MD passed away on December 9, 2023 surrounded by the love of her family at her home, she was 90 years old. She was the devoted wife to the late Thomas L. Cavey, Jr.
Born in Baltimore, MD to the late William Leroy and Mary Anne (Goeller) Tayman. She was the loving mother of Michael T. Cavey (Danielle), Diane M. Bohn (Vincent), Patricia A. Reeves (Mike), Joseph A. Cavey (Victoria), Anne L. Cavey Hinton, adoring grandmother of Sarah Miller (Justin), Jacob Bohn (Jordan), J.T. Cavey, Sean Cavey, Cody Reeves (Kate), Austin Bohn (Jenna), Raleigh Cavey, Koda Cool (Krysten), Ryder Cavey (Danielle), Abby Reeves, Lane Cavey, Alex Burgess, Grace Hinton, David Burgess, T.C. Hinton, cherished great-grandmother of Adalynn Miller, Wyatt Miller, Cameron Reeves, Eliza Bohn, Cooper Reeves, Lyla Miller, Everett Bohn, Madison Cavey and Tommy Bohn. She was predeceased by her siblings Laura Thompson, William Tayman and John Carroll Tayman.
Mrs. Cavey was a successful self-employed caterer, who owned M & M Catering. Her business ran several Baltimore High School cafeterias including Mount Saint Joseph HS where she and her family were deeply involved. She loved to cook and serve others, the more the merrier. She enjoyed playing bridge, canasta, blackjack and visiting the casino. She loved to travel, go out to eat and make friends along the way. Mary was an amazing storyteller and would often be found sharing stories with strangers who would listen for hours. She also loved to dance and if there was an opportunity to dance, she was found on the dance floor. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
A Mass will be held on December 22, 2023 at 12 noon, St Joseph's Monastery Parish, 3801 Old Frederick Road, Baltimore, MD 21229. A reception will follow at the Mt. St. Joseph High School Cafeteria, 4403 Frederick Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21229
Mrs. Cavey will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery, beside her husband.
