It is with both heavy hearts and joyful memories that we announce the passing of Mildred Carmela Cianelli, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and cherished friend, who left us peacefully on April 23, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on August 24, 1933, in Staten Island, NY, to the late Prosper and Anna Clara (Schipani) Parello. Mildred dedicated her life to her family and her faith, leaving a legacy of love and kindness.
Mildred will be warmly remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, including her beloved husband of 71 years, Lawrence "Larry" J. Cianelli, her daughter Laura Cianelli Preston and her husband Stephen, her son Lawrence R. Cianelli, Jr. and his partner Deborah, and her daughter Denise Cianelli Rose and her husband Bruce. She also took great pride in her grandchildren—W. Pace Putland (Liesl), Brittany Putland (Darren), Dominic Cianelli, Mia Allen (Lee), Derek Rose (Crystal), and Drew Rose, and the late Vincent Cianelli—as well as her great-grandchildren, including Vivian Putland, Julian Putland, Everett Allen, Zechariah Cianelli, Gwen Allen, and Leah Rose. In addition to her immediate family, Mildred is survived by her loving sisters, Mary Walker and Barbara Aspinall, and her cherished cat, Bo Bo. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
A member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Our Lady of Fatima Outreach, Mildred found joy and purpose in her faith and community. Mildred retired as the Office Manager at the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Plant after over 30 years of service, where her dedication and hard work were admired by all who knew her.
She loved nurturing her plants and flowers and caring for her home and was famous among loved ones for her cooking and holiday feasts. Mildred loved the beach and treasured every moment spent at her beach house which she loved to share with her husband, children and grandchildren. In addition, Mildred loved people. She had warmth and caring that extended to everyone she met even if it was just a brief encounter.
To honor her life and the indelible impact she had on everyone around her, a Mass celebrating Mildred's life will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 615 Congress Avenue, Havre de Grace, Maryland, on April 26, 2025, at 12:00 PM. A committal ceremony will take place later at Mt. Erin Cemetery for the immediate family only.
As we say our goodbyes, we celebrate Mildred's kind spirit, her unwavering love for her family, and the treasured moments we shared. She will be profoundly missed but forever remembered in our hearts.
