It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nellie Jean Cochran, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Nellie was born on March 4, 1947, in West Virginia, and she peacefully passed away on August 1, 2024, at the age of 77 years, at Christiana Care Union Hospital, Elkton, Maryland.
Throughout her life, Nellie found joy in the simple pleasures of collecting knick-knacks, crafting, and sewing. She had a special passion for amusement parks and would eagerly ride roller coasters, often sharing these adventures with her husband, Butch. Nellie found solace in embarking on train rides with her husband, who also shared her love of travel and historical sites, always seeking out vacations to explore the past. In her downtime, she cherished watching old Western TV shows and spending quality time with her family.
Nellie was a hardworking individual who dedicated herself to her family and her career as a store manager at Highs Convenience Store. Her commitment to her loved ones was immeasurable, and she found great fulfillment in their company. Nellie is survived by her loving husband, William "Butch" Cochran, sons Bart Billings, Christopher Billings, and Scott Billings, James Cochran, Robert Cochran, and William Cochran, she was the grandmother of fourteen, great-grandmother of five, along with many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents Shannon and Charlotte Bane.
Funeral services and ceremonies to honor Nellie's memory will be held privately as she had wished. In this time of grief, let us remember Nellie for her kindness, dedication, and the love she shared with those around her. May she rest in peace.
