Patricia Marie "Pat" Walston, a beloved resident of Havre de Grace, MD, and the cherished matriarch of her family, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, at the age of 85. Pat graduated from Seaford High School in Seaford, DE in 1959 and also studied at Harford Community College. She was a member of Professional Secretaries International and Havre de Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed attending shows at the American Music Theater in Lancaster, PA. Pat loved to travel. Traveling with her husband was cherished moments visiting Paris, Germany, Hawaii, and many states in the United States, which filled her with awe and inspiration. Her annual strolls on the Ocean City boardwalk brought her immense joy, as it had been her vacation spot for the last 34 years. She also fondly remembered her time in Hawaii and Fort Worth, Texas, where she was captivated by the beautiful landscapes and culture.
Pat worked as a secretary at the Bata Shoe Company until it closed. She retired as an Executive Secretary after 20 years with the City of Havre de Grace, MD. Pat volunteered with Cub Scouts and Band Boosters. One of her cherished roles was as a Welcome Home Mom at Dover AFB, where she greeted returning troops from Desert Storm. Pat's warm smile and heartfelt hugs, accompanied by the simple act of pinning a 'Welcome Home' ribbon on the soldiers, embodied her genuine care and gratitude for their service, leaving a memorable and comforting impression on all she encountered.
Pat loved seeing her children and grandchildren, traveling, and reading. Often, she could be found nestled comfortably in her favorite chair, completely absorbed in a new novel. Her skilled hands created beautiful Counted Cross-Stitch pieces, and she delighted in showing off her latest creations to friends and family. Pat also kept in touch with her loved ones through her iPad, whether browsing Facebook, playing a game of Solitaire, or enjoying a FaceTime video chat. She shared many laughs with her friends at the 'Young at Heart' senior group, where her vibrant personality was appreciated.
