Patrick David Maphis of Abingdon, MD passed away at home on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013. He was 63 years old. Pat was the loving husband and best friend of Erin Callahan Maphis of Havre de Grace. They were happily married for 32 years. Pat was a unique person with many interests and friends around the world. He was a wonderful storyteller filled with wisdom and had a great sense of humor. His accomplishments included being a nationally ranked BMX bike racer, a national award winning model car builder and a dedicated employee of Cytec Industries. During his life he had a cool car collection which included a 55 Studebaker, a 63 Chevy Wagon and the first PT Cruiser in Harford County. Pat had a deep respect for bison and also followed Jeff Gordon's racing career. However, first and foremost Patrick was a true skateboarder for life. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be determined at a later date. Contributions in his honor can be made to the American Visionary Art Museum.
