Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Peggy Lavonne Catron on October 5, 2026, at the age of 90. Peggy was born on August 28, 1936, in Crumpler, North Carolina, and spent her later years residing in Nottingham, PA and North East, MD. She went home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and faith.

Peggy was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and later in life, attended Nottingham Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshipping with her family. Her unwavering faith guided her through life as she enjoyed reading her Bible, drawing strength and inspiration from its teachings.

Peggy dedicated her professional life as a Budget Analyst at Aberdeen Proving Ground and retiring after 15 years of service. Beyond her career, mom found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, board games and loved bird watching, especially hummingbirds. She found happiness in spending time with family, especially her daughters and grandchildren. In addition, she enjoyed reading her Bible and studying it with her sisters. She treasured her family and nurtured these relationships with unwavering love, and she took great pride in her family's accomplishments. She cherished the many trips to their North Carolina home place and enjoyed adventures to Williamsburg, Virginia with her sisters, creating treasured memories.

Peggy was a loving mother to her four daughters, Lavonne Garcia, Brenda Joseph (Roy), Lisa Christley, and Audrey Klein (Jeff), grandmother of 10, and great-grandmother of 17. Peggy is also survived by her siblings: sister Alice Ann Roe, brother Joseph Caswell Spicer, Jr., sister Rose Aleta Toscani, and brother Willard "Gwynn" Spicer. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Hudson Catron, her son, Eddie Allen Catron, her father, Joseph Caswell Spicer, Sr., her mother, Ivalee Eller Spicer, sister, Audrey "Nadine" Stewart, and brother Barry Eugene Spicer.

Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of Peggy at the public viewing at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., on October 9, 2026, at 12:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 1:00 PM, celebrating her life and the love she shared with all who knew her.

Peggy will be deeply missed and thought of often. Her life was filled with love, laughter, and faith.
