James Peter "Pete" Burns, of Belcamp, MD, passed away on January 7, 2016, of natural causes. He was 68. He was born in Fort Bragg, North Carolina to Peter Ervin Burns and Ruth Larson Burns.
Pete will be remembered as the life of the party. He was unfailingly generous, a gentleman who always had a kind word for everyone.
As a youth Pete was a gifted athlete in gymnastics, baseball and golf. As an adult worker, at Cook Motorcars, Pete was reliable, competent, and a constant presence. He was always a friend to his children, a protector for his sister and a playmate for his grandchildren. He entered into their play with the spirit of a child, catching flies for bug soup or going on Smeagol hunts. To his friends, he was a support and a constant source of entertainment. Pete will be missed.
Pete is survived by his children Clinton Peter Burns, Jason Walter Burns, and Amy Rebecca Burns Lovelace, his sister Carroll Mitchell, daughters-in-law Jessica Burns, and Christy Lazaretti, son-in-law Jason Lovelace, niece Mary Bennett, brother-in-law Rick Mitchell, nephews Todd and Peter Bennett and Andy Mitchell, and finally, his most beloved grandchildren, Haley and Jake Lovelace, Austin Burns, and Luke, Jake, Brady, and Jared Burns. He was predeceased by his sister Sherry Burns Bennett and his nephew Matt Mitchell.
