Peter J. Fitzpatrick Sr.
Peter J. Fitzpatrick Sr. of Havre de Grace, MD passed away on October 22, 2010 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Baltimore. He was 93. He was the devoted husband of the late Alice Anderson Fitzpatrick.
Mr. Fitzpatrick was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 30, 1917, to the late Francis X. and Mary M. (Hoeffner) Fitzpatrick He is survived by his two sons, Thomas F Fitzpatrick, and his wife Teresa, of Havre de Grace, MD, and by Peter James Fitzpatrick Jr. of Hampton., Va., and his wife Janet.
Mr. Fitzpatrick worked in a variety of sales and managerial positions and retired as the Vice President and General Manager of the Calcite Division of Genstar (now Redlands PLC). . He was a graduate of LSU in Chemistry and received his Master Degree at Columbia University. He was also a United States Army Veteran. During WWII, he served as a Major commanding light tanks in the European Theatre under Generals Omar Bradley and George Patton. He came ashore at Omaha Beach on June 13, 1944, a week after D-Day. He saw combat in both the Normandy campaign and the Battle of the Bulge.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 29 at 10 A.M. at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD.
Officiating will be Father William O'Brien.
Interment will be held at Garrison Forest Veterans Cemetery at 2:30 P.M.
