**Obituary for Richard Cofer Holcomb**

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Cofer Holcomb of Havre de Grace, MD, on August 20, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on March 27, 1940, in Webster Springs, West Virginia, to the late William R. and Susan V. (Carpenter) Holcomb. Richard lived a life marked by devotion, hard work, and a strong sense of community.

Richard was a cherished member of the First Baptist Church of Havre de Grace, MD, where he dedicated much of his life to his church and his church family. His commitment to taking care of the church was a reflection of his unwavering faith and dedication. Richard's spirit was further enriched by his enthusiasm for NASCAR, where his loyalty to the legendary Jeff Gordon brought joy and camaraderie to many fellow fans.

Richard worked as an assembler in the car manufacturing industry at General Motors, where he applied his diligence and skill, contributing to the lives of countless families through his labor. Though he did not pursue formal education beyond high school, his wisdom, character, and generosity were admired by many who crossed his path.

Richard was the loving father of the late Charlene Ann Holcomb and Marlene Sue Holcomb. He is survived by his beloved brother, William Holcomb, and was preceded in death by his siblings Harry Holcomb, Tom Holcomb, John Holcomb, Robert Holcomb, Jack Holcomb, Edward Holcomb, Patricia Taylor, Phyllis Lewis, Pamela Holcomb, and Mary Hash.
