Obituary

It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Rodney Fred Hamm, who departed this life on November 11, 2025, at the age of 81. Born and raised in Havre de Grace, Maryland, Rodney lived a life defined by love, integrity, and devotion to the ones most dear to him in life. His gentle nature and steadfast heart left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rodney was a proud graduate of Havre de Grace High School, Class of 1962, where he formed lifelong friendships and began shaping the values that would guide him throughout his years. He went on to enjoy a long and fulfilling career as a Science Lab Technician in the adhesives industry at Cytec, where his meticulous work ethic and quiet dedication earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Rodney's greatest pride was always his family - the center of his world, and the source of his deepest joy.

He was a devoted father to his beloved daughter Melena Hamm, and to his late son Robert Hamm. Rodney's love extended warmly to his grandchildren, Kevin Stacy Mahan and Asa Cromwell, Jr., whose laughter and presence brought him endless happiness. He was also a cherished brother to Opal Strauss, Virginia Crothers, Zylphia Hughes, Bernice Newby, Lois Isenock, and Delmer Hamm, sharing a lifetime of memories that bound their family together through every season of life.

Rodney found joy in life's simplest pleasures - relaxing on his deck surrounded by loved ones, sharing stories that drew out laughter, and cheering on his Baltimore Ravens with unwavering enthusiasm. His loyal Pug, Lola, was his constant companion, bringing warmth and delight to his days. Those who knew Rodney will remember his quiet humor, his generous heart, and his ability to make everyone around him feel valued and at ease.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alanzo and Bertha Hamm, his son Robert Hamm, grandsons Kevin Mahan and Asa Cromwell, Jr., and siblings Virginia Crothers, Zylphia Hughes, and Delmer Hamm. Though his absence leaves a deep void, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the many lives he touched.

A funeral service celebrating Rodney's life will be held at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., on November 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with a public viewing beginning at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in remembrance of a man whose kindness, strength, and love illuminated the lives of so many.

Rodney Fred Hamm will be deeply missed, yet forever remembered - for his steadfast love, his gentle humor, and the legacy of compassion he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
