Ruth Oleana Jones "Boots" Drier



Ruth Oleana Jones "Boots" Drier, of Churchville, MD, passed away on April 28, 2013. She was 89.

She was born in Rising Sun, MD, to the late George Stephen Jones and Iva Catherine Culley Jones.

Mrs. Drier was the loving mother of Catherine Marie Burner and her husband, Larry, of Quarryville, PA, and Tammy Lynn Marquis and her husband, Dave of Churchville, MD.
She was the adored grandmother of Jennifer Ruth Lusby, Brent David Marquis, Jillian Rose Marquis, and Jessica Dawn Kunkel, and the great-grandmother of Brooke Taylor Lusby, Tyler Larry Kunkel, and Ryan Matthew Kunkel. She was the dear sister of Joyce West of Havre de Grace, MD, Marjorie Siler of Edgewood, MD, the late "Wimpy" Jones, Betty Barker, Gladys Webb, Beverly Bennett, and "Docky" Worthington.

Mrs. Drier worked at both the Aberdeen Proving Ground and Bata Shoe Company before retiring. She was a member of Havre de Grace United Methodist Church for 59 years, where she was active for several years in the prayer circle. She enjoyed reading, cross-word puzzles, sewing and crocheting. Her main focus in her life was being with and taking care of her family.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 6-8 PM at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Havre de Grace United Methodist Church, 101 S. Union Avenue, Havre de Grace, MD. Pastor Norman Obenshain will officiate. Interment will be at Harford Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Dave Marquis, Brent Marquis, C.J. Lusby, and Matt Kunkel.
