In Loving Memory of Ruth Schwarz Woodford

Abingdon, MD – It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ruth Schwarz Woodford on January 27, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on October 5, 1931, in Frankfurt on Main, Germany, Ruth was the beloved daughter of Josef Schwarz and Emma Katherina Oppenlander Schwarz.

A loving and devoted wife, Ruth was married to the late Floyd Woodford for countless joy-filled years. Together, they built a life centered around love, family, and creating cherished memories. As a dedicated homemaker, Ruth tirelessly nurtured and cared for her family, creating a warm and welcoming home for her children and loved ones.

Ruth will forever be remembered as a loving mother to her daughters Brenda Wells, Heidi Vitela, and her late son Josef Scott Woodford. Her unconditional love and unwavering support knew no bounds. She was a pillar of strength, always there with words of wisdom and encouragement.

Ruth took great delight in her role as a grandmother to Autumn Buckholz and Leana Esquival. She found immense joy in their laughter and relished in creating unforgettable moments together. Her heart expanded with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Monica Clapper, London Anthony, and Ivy Burgoyne, who brought an extra sparkle to her eyes.

Family meant everything to Ruth, and she deeply cherished the memories shared with her late sister, Irmtraut Pfeiffer, and the moments spent with her nephew, Harold Pfeiffer, and the late Dieter Pfeiffer. She took great pride in being a loving great-aunt to Erik Pfeiffer.

A woman of many talents and passions, Ruth had an artistic spirit. She reveled in creating arts and crafts, from painting to coloring, often sharing these cherished hobbies with her family. She had an eye for beauty and took pleasure in shopping for unique and meaningful treasures. Her visits to the hair salon were moments of pampering that she cherished.

Ruth delighted in the simple pleasures of life. She could often be found with a book in her hands, losing herself in the pages of her favorite novels. In her downtime, she enjoyed watching classic "Westerns," finding solace and comfort in these timeless stories. Ruth's love for cleanliness and organization was unmatched, and she took immense pride in keeping her surroundings spotlessly tidy.
