Sabrina Lea Mazzei passed away on September 7, 2026, at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. She was born on March 7, 1966, in New Jersey and grew up in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Her life was marked by compassion and deep love for her family.

Sabrina earned her Associate of Nursing Degree from Harford Community College and went on to serve as a Registered Nurse and Nursing Supervisor. Nursing was more than a profession to her; it reflected who she was at heart. She cared deeply for others, especially those she felt had been forgotten.

Sabrina found joy in the simple and familiar comforts of home and family. She loved watching retro television, especially episodes of Little House on the Prairie, and she loved to cook for her family. Some of her happiest moments were spent spoiling and spending time with her grandchildren and watching her loved ones eat and enjoy her cooking. Above all, Sabrina was deeply proud of all three of her children.

She is survived by her daughters, Kelsey Merrick and Sydney Odell, and by her son, Jacob Vanderwerff. She also leaves her sons-in-law, Hal Gordon and Kevin Odell. Her grandchildren, Kaleb, Iris, Ezra Odell, and Jonah Gordon, were a cherished part of her life and brought her immense joy. Sabrina is also survived by her brother, John Mazzei, and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Mazzei.

She will also be deeply missed by her devoted companion of 18 years, David Karick; by her best friend, Katina Brown; and by Scott Merrick, her former husband and father of her daughters. Each of them held a meaningful place in her life and in the many memories that now remain.

Sabrina was preceded in death by her father, Angelo Mazzei; her beloved mother, Sandra Mazzei; her brothers, Jason Mazzei and Joseph Mazzei; and the father of her son, Andreas Vanderwerff. A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 927 Pulaski Highway, Havre de Grace, Maryland, where a funeral service will be held at 12 P.M. Interment will be held at Angel Hill Cemetery, Havre de Grace, Maryland, immediately following services. All are welcome to join the family for a reception honoring and sharing memories at the Life Celebration Banquet Room, Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 927 Pulaski Highway, Havre de Grace, Maryland, immediately following the burial. Sabrina Lea Mazzei's light will live on in the hearts of those she loved throughout her life. We look forward to celebrating her life together in the days to come.
