Sandra M. Ferriter, of Bel Air, MD, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 21, 2023 surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was 74 years old and was the devoted wife of 53 years to John M. Ferriter.
Born in San Diego, CA to the late Ret. LCDR Howard McPherson (stepmother, Constance) and late Lois (Mounts) McPherson, Sandie was the beloved mother of Tim Ferriter (Kerry) and Erin Ferriter (Rich Berkey); and adoring grandmother of Addison Ferriter, Alaina Ferriter, Eoghan Ferriter-Berkey and Murphy Ferriter-Berkey. She is survived by her brother Richard McPherson (Pam). She was predeceased by her sister, Arlean McPherson.
Sandie was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, where she met and married her husband, John. She later obtained her Master of Administrative Science degree from John's Hopkins University. For more than 26 years, she was a Professor of Business at Harford Community College, a role she thoroughly loved. Sandie loved spending time with her family and grandchildren; and enjoyed traveling home to New England to visit her family. Sandie was an excellent cook and baker and her talents of sewing, crocheting and her flower gardens were admired by many. She loved sitting by the ocean and traveling to Bermuda every year. She was also an avid Orioles and Iron Birds baseball fan. Sandie was a loving, kind, and sweet person with a beautiful soul. She will be greatly missed.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Zellman Funeral Home, 123 S. Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Church, 141 N. Hickory Avenue, Bel Air, MD 21014 on Friday, October 27, 2023 at 10 A.M. Interment following at Mt. Erin Cemetery in Havre de Grace, MD.
