Sandra "Sandy" Jogwer Matthews, of Aberdeen, MD, passed away on March 2, 2022. She was 71.

Mrs. Matthews was born in Milwaukee, WI, to Milton Jogwer and Pauline Schimmel Jogwer. She was the devoted wife of Ed Matthews, loving mother of Heather Matthews Willoughby (Neil), adored grandmother of Nathan James Willoughby and Nora Jane Willoughby. She was the sister of Candy Matthews (Jim) and the late Marion Jogwer.

Mrs. Matthews taught for Harford County Public Schools at Bakerfield Elementary School, Roye Williams Elementary School, and Havre de Grace Middle School. She was a liaison with the school system for the APG Military and Civilian Spouses Club. She was very active in the Aberdeen and MD Jaycees, chairing and working on many projects for the community. Being very gifted in floral design and arranging, she also worked for Kroh's Nursery for many years. Mrs. Matthews was a member of Havre de Grace Presbyterian Church, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star – 27 Havre de Grace Chapter. She was a talented seamstress and made matching outfits for her and her daughter when she was little. Mrs. Matthews was a former competitive U.S. Junior Figure Skater, and taught ice-skating for many years in Newark, DE. Her main love was doting on and taking care of her grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 12-1 PM, at Havre de Grace Presbyterian Church, 551 Franklin Street, Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Funeral service will begin at 1 PM.
