Shirley Ann Higbee, beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on November 9, 1935, in Deep Water, NJ, where her roots began, and her journey through life led her to Darlington, MD, where she created a warm and loving home.

Shirley dedicated her life to her family and her work as a school bus driver, where she touched the lives of countless children, ensuring their safe passage to and from school each day. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, especially being outdoors, where she loved to travel and camp, embracing the beauty of nature and the memories created around campfires and under starlit skies. Shirley was a devoted Christian and loved to profess her faith in her words and daily living.

She is survived by her two loving sons, Mark Higbee and Steven Higbee, along with her cherished grandchildren, Justin Higbee and Jessi Higbee, and close friends, Connie and Hugo. Shirley was preceded in death by: her parents, Dewey Shermerhorn and Gladys Shermerhorn, her husband, Paul Higbee, and her siblings Dolores Shermerhorn and Dewey Shermerhorn. Shirley's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her gentle spirit.

Funeral services for Shirley Ann Higbee will be held at a future date, details of which will be shared with family and friends. She will be laid to rest in a beautiful ceremony at 14205 Pleasant Valley Road NW, Flintstone, MD, where loved ones can gather to celebrate her life and the joy she brought to those around her.
