With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Stanley Mark Parnell, who departed this life on November 1, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on September 3, 1961, in Havre de Grace, MD. Mark lived an adventurous but difficult life. Although his career was cut short by illness and circumstances out of his control he was a proud U.S. Marine who enlisted on June 20, 1979 at the age of 17—only a few days after his graduation from Aberdeen HS until February 5, 1982. He was an expert marksman and received a certificate as a Marine sharpshooter.
After Mark's military service he became an accomplished concrete mason. Concrete was his art form, and his craftsmanship was evident in every project he completed. He maintained a strong work ethic throughout his career.
Far beyond his professional achievements, Mark was a beloved son, father, brother, uncle and nephew. He is survived by his mother, Patsy C. Parnell; his three cherished children, Kristen Parnell, Tracey Parnell, and Stanley Mark Parnell, Jr., his grandchildren Jacob, Xavier, Nevaeh, Joe-Joe, and Aurora, his sister Sherry Parnell Kanaras and nephew JC Watts. He was fiercely protective of his family, always ensuring that they felt loved and supported. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Miles Stanley Parnell who served as Deacon at Mt Calvary FW Baptist Church.
A man of the outdoors, Mark found joy in hunting and fishing, often spending days at a time in the serene embrace of nature as an accomplished Survivalist. He loved to share his skills by taking his grandson Jo Jo out to camp, hunt and fish and would brag about how quickly Jo Jo learned each new skillset. He found peace when he was in the woods, as this is where he would commune with God.
Mark's memory will be honored with a funeral service at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., on November 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM. There will also be a public visitation held on the same day at 12:00 PM, allowing friends and loved ones to share their condolences and celebrate his life.
As we remember Mark, we take solace in knowing that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. His legacy of love, strength, and loyalty will continue to inspire us all.
