Obituary

With great love and a deep sense of gratitude for a remarkable life, we celebrate the life of Thomas John Ingersoll, who passed away peacefully at Citizens Care Center, in Havre de Grace, Maryland, on December 8, 2024, at the age of 93. He was the devoted husband to the late Marthann (Benz) Ingersoll. Born on August 2, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Thomas and Elizabeth Hayes Ingersoll. Thomas lived a life rich in accomplishments, joy, and the love of his family.
Thomas was a proud veteran of the United States Army, where he served honorably, embodying the values of duty and resilience. After serving his country, Thomas began pursuing his education, graduating from LaSalle University and moving on to obtain his law degree from Temple Law. Thomas had a successful career as an attorney, where he became a respected figure in the legal community and dedicated his life to advocating for justice and helping others.

Thomas was a man of many passions. He cherished the written word and could often be found engrossed in a book. His love for classical music provided him with endless enjoyment, and he shared many joyous rounds of golf with friends and family. A beloved escape for him was Long Beach Island, New Jersey, where he found tranquility and joy, sharing countless memories with loved ones. Although he missed his time swimming, his spirit and zest for life remained unchanged.

He is survived by his daughter Anita Ingersoll Creghan, son-in-law Michael W. Creghan, and his cherished grandchildren, Theodore Moxon (Mary Fran), Katherine Bevan (Conor), and Annabel Moxon (Max Blum). Thomas was also a proud great-grandfather to Padraic Bevan, Marley Bevan, Grace Moxon, Violet Moxon, and Magnus Moxon-Blum. He was predeceased by his son Thomas J. Ingersoll, Jr. He will be profoundly missed by his family, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness, strength, and love.

In this time of sorrow, let us remember the kindness and compassion that Thomas exemplified. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Rest in peace, dear Thomas. You will be deeply missed.
