Timothy Matthew McGowan, CTRC (IW/SW) U.S. Navy, passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2025; just 6 days before his 40th. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and sailor. Tim was raised in Warminster, Pennsylvania, and graduated from William Tennett High School. He received his Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Gettysburg College, and two Master's degrees in International Peace & Conflict Resolutions and International Relations & Diplomacy from Arcadia University and the American Graduate School in Paris.
Tim enlisted in the Navy in 2012, and at the time of his death he was a Senior Chief for Cryptologic Technician Collection (CTR). He was awarded during his service three Navy Achievement Medals and one Joint Service Commendation Medal. He served on two deployments, with the first for the Global War on Terrorism, and on the second he earned a Realm of the Arctic certificate.
Tim was the beloved husband of Jessica (Schneider) and devoted father to Emily and Eric. He will forever be missed by his mother Barbara (Robert) Smith of Sarasota, Florida; his father David (Laurie) McGowan III of Warminster, Pennsylvania; his brother Jeffrey (Hannah) McGowan and nieces Nora and Audrey; his stepsister Stephanie (Jake) La Rue; and his in-laws David Schneider and Juanita Atkins.
Tim is an avid video game enthusiast and foodie. He loved to travel with his wife and enjoyed wine tasting. He regularly took his children for Saturday breakfast, his daughter to the movies, or his son to the park. He enjoyed coming home every day to spend time with his family, but also to hang out with the cats - Dusty, Sterling, Mia, and Lucky.
Tim had a huge heart for his fellow sailors and was always striving to do better for the Navy and his family. He had an amazing heart, was incredibly kind, and had all the passion in the world for things he loved.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M at the Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 927 Pulaski Highway, Havre de Grace, MD, where a funeral service will take place at 12 P.M. Officiating services will be Rev. William Getman. United States Navy Honors will be given following the funeral service.
