Walter Lee Cook, 68, of Darlington, MD, passed away at his home September 26, 2023.

Born in Frostburg, MD on February 28, 1955, Lee was the son of the late Francis and Betty Engle Cook. He graduated from Frostburg State University and earned a master's degree in biology from Towson University. Lee retired from Sinai Hospital as a medical researcher after 25 years. He volunteered his time as a member of the Darlington Lions Club, at West Cecil Health Center and he and his wife drove seniors in the "Getting There Ride Share" Program. Lee was an avid gardener and reader and enjoyed shopping for antiques and collectibles. Lee was an excellent cook, and he and his wife entertained family and friends often. He and his wife also loved to travel, but Lee's greatest joy in life was spending time with family.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 43 years, Mary Jane Cook; his sons, John Walter (JW) Cook and his wife Samantha of Perryville, and Tyler Cook of Aurora, CO; his granddaughter, Madison; his siblings Seth Cook and his wife Robin of Florida, and Beth Cook and her husband Gary of Berlin, MD; his in-laws who were like siblings to him, John J. Conlisk, Jr. and his wife Mary of Valparaiso, IN, Patrick William Conlisk of Mariposa, CA, Georgette C. Mester and her husband Jack of Darlington, Beth Conlisk and her spouse Mary Stuart of Whately, MA, and Amy Conlisk of Conowingo, Roxanne Sanford and her husband David of Frostburg MD and Danny Engle and his wife Mary from PA, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

A celebration of Lee's life will be held on October 1, 2023, from 1-4:00 pm at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Burial will be private at a later date. Contributions in Lee's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
