Wanda Williams

Wanda Williams, of Hope Mills, NC, passed away at home on December 31, 2010. She was 62.
She was born in Rutherfordton, NC, to William T. Pruitt and the late Bernice O. Mitchem Pruitt.
She moved with her family to Maryland in 1950 where she attended school. After High School (Class of 1966), she moved back to North Carolina. Within a few years, she moved back to Havre de Grace, where she worked on Aberdeen Proving Ground and then at Susquehanna Metal Box Company for 15 years. She fell in love with Mark Williams, and they were married in 1990. He was a career serviceman and they lived in several places, including Washington State, Germany, New Jersey and Aberdeen Proving Ground. After his retirement, they moved back to North Carolina. Wanda was devoted to her family, was a loving mother, and a caring friend to all.
She is survived by her husband Mark Williams, her father William T. Pruitt, Sr., and his companion Marie Windle of Baltimore, MD, her son Brian Pruitt and his wife Mercedes of Havre de Grace, stepsons Richard Lee Williams of North Carolina and John Shumate of Aberdeen, MD, a grandson Sebastian Pruitt, a brother William T. Pruitt, Jr., and his wife Laura of TN., a sister Dana Pollace and her husband Joseph Pollace of Havre de Grace, MD, a special niece, Katina Mracheck of Florida, who she thought of as a daughter, and a very special little girl, Casey Mracheck of Florida, who Wanda thought of as a granddaughter. Wanda was predeceased by her mother Bernice Pruitt, her brothers Fred and Bobby Pruitt, and a nephew Christopher Pruitt. Wanda also had many cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that she loved and cared about so very much. Her soft heart and caring ways will be remembered and missed by all.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 5, from 6-9 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 6, at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Ron Tabor will officiate. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be John Shumate, Fred Pruitt, Matt Manning, Danny Dominick, Joseph Pollace, and Wayne Young. Honorary pallbearers will be Buryl E. Windle, Michael H. Windle, Larry G. Windle, and Robert L. T. Windle.
Contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 800 Giles Street, Havre de Grace, MD, or to the funeral home.
