Dr. Wilbur Silfies Scholl, O.D., passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022. He was 93.

Dr. Scholl was born in Allentown, PA, to Wilbur Edwin Scholl and Eva Minerva Scholl. He was the devoted husband of 40 years to Peggy A. Scholl, father of Wilbur Silfies Scholl, Jr., Patricia Scholl Dauses, and the late Judy Scholl, William Ross Hause, and Bonnie Ann Hause Donoho. He was the grandfather of Chrissy Hause Grove (Greg), Ashley Hause Muir (Todd), Reba Ann Hause McKinzie (Nathan), Brendan Thomas Donoho, Amy Reba Prophet (Talon), great-grandfather of Julua Berg (Ryan Erps), Reba Marie Grove, Layla Rae McKinzie, Ross A. Muir, Audrey Ann Prophet, and Jackson Prophet. He is also survived by son-in-law, Douglas P. Donoho. He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Forker.

Dr. Scholl served in the U.S. Army 19th Infantry 24th Division during World War II, as a medical specialist. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Muhlenberg College. He ran his own practice for 35 years, then worked for Parris-Castoro until retirement. He was a life-long member of Grace United Methodist Church, the American Legion Post 128, and the Aberdeen Rotary Club. Dr. Scholl was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting turkey, pheasant, bear, grouse, woodcock and deer. He also enjoyed crabbing.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from 4-6 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 S. Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022, at 12 PM, at the funeral home.
