William "Bill" Preston Bowman, of Havre de Grace, MD, passed away on December 11, 2017. He was 89.
Mr. Bowman was born in Hillsville, VA, to Aaron and Rhoda Bowman. He was the devoted husband of 63 years to Bessie Marie Bowman, loving father of William Dean Bowman and his wife Beth, of Havre de Grace, MD, and Michael Dwayne Bowman and his wife Bobbi, of Rising Sun, MD. He was the adored grandfather of Jacob Bowman and his wife Jen of Las Vegas, NV, Rachel Johnson and her husband Norm of Port Deposit, MD, Kyle Bowman of Havre de Grace, MD, and Mason Klug of Rising Sun, MD, and great-grandfather of Kaleb Bowman and Miles Johnson. He was predeceased by his siblings.
Mr. Bowman served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Aberdeen Proving Ground and then worked until his last days running his backhoe and dump-truck business. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, camping and motor cross.
A viewing will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington Street, Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at 10 AM at the funeral home. Pastor Donnie Smith will officiate. Interment will be held at Harford Memorial Gardens.
