Obituary

William James Mitchell, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on October 23, 2026, at the age of 45. Born on May 6, 1981, in Havre De Grace, Maryland, William was a lifelong resident of his hometown, where he made a profound impact on those around him.

William was an ordained minister and worked as an outreach coordinator at 1st Step Behavioral Health. William dedicated his life to helping others. He found God while incarcerated, and his journey of faith ignited a passion for ministering to people, sharing his beliefs, and guiding many on their road to recovery. He also advocated for prison reform and worked with the Maryland Second Look Coalition. William's warmth and compassion touched countless lives - he truly loved people and had an incredible ability to connect, never meeting a stranger.

A member of Mountain Christian Church, Aberdeen Campus, William found joy and fulfillment in his faith community. He fiercely loved his family and friends, but most of all, he loved Jesus.

William is survived by his loving family, including his father, Frank Jerome Mitchell; mother, Linda Anne Davidson Mitchell; sisters, Elizabeth Tefke (Christopher) and Theresa Anne Mitchell Pahl (late Richard); brother, Richard Alton Mitchell; and his cherished nieces and nephews, Christopher Pahl, Kathryn Pahl Lang, and Richard Pahl. William was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher Mitchell.

A viewing will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 11:00 AM, at Mountain Christian Church, Aberdeen Campus, 21 Aberdeen Shopping Plaza, Aberdeen, MD . Friends, family, and all who were touched by William's kindness are invited to join in honoring his memory.

Rest in peace, William. Your spirit will live on in the many lives you inspired and touched.
